What is Krabi Krabong?
The Kingdom of Siam, which today has become the Kingdom of Thailand, has never been conquered by a foreign army, but has had to be confronted with and protect its integrity on many occasions...
Out of this necessity was born Krabi Krabong... arsenal of military techniques purely utilitarian at its very beginnings but turned into an Art, it has remained even today, one of the authentic few combat systems still preserved in this world.
Krabi Krabong is a complete martial system which makes use of not only armed techniques but empty hand techniques as well. Armed techniques include the use and mastery of 9 weapons: swords, staffs, spears, knives, axes, different kinds of shields with sharpened edges and "Mai sok". Empty hand techniques called "muay kaadcheurk", like in modern Muay Thai, make use of fists, elbows, knees, feet and shins but in a wider range of possibilities.
Nowadays Krabi Krabong is still taught to the Thai Commandos, the Royal Guards and to the Special Forces, but also to children, men and women and is part of many College programs. It is also performed at many traditional Thai festivals, all over the Kingdom.
